Role purpose:

As a Trainee Quantity Surveyor, you will be joining our existing team, to provide commercial support any given building project(s) as required. Reporting to either a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be working in collaboration with the Project Manager and Lead Designer to provide efficient financial control for projects.

You will support project team in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation and reinforcing our reputation as a premium property developer.

Essential skills, experience and qualifications:

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Placing Subcontract Orders
  • Review with line manager all Henley Construct standard commercial forms and ensure its implemented on project.
  • Review Subcontractor tender returns and complete Comparisons for approval
  • Maintaining concise records and photographs as the project progressed.
  • Assist the Materials Buyers and ensure robust cost control is exercised throughout.
  • Understand & Assist in preparing, maintaining and delivering to the project Subcontract and Material procurement schedule.
  • Attend design reviews, design development, build-ability exercises, timely value engineering exercises whilst maintaining a log of design changes
  • Assist in preparing Subcontracts as required by the business including issue and logging of NTC’s Warranties etc.
  • Constantly portray a professional image to colleagues, senior employees and Client in person and in all communications
  • Remain within the remit of the role and when additional responsibilities need to be carried out, conduct this in a fully informed manner with the approval of your Line Manager;
  • Constantly maintain an upmost level of confidentiality and discretion with all information pertaining to the business, the Directors, information that you learn / obtain, colleagues and business activities in general
  • Be responsible for subcontract letting, negotiation and financial accounting
